Essential Oils and Bugs
Essential oils have a multitude of different uses from relaxation to digestion, but have you ever tried essential oils as a natural non-toxic alternative for bug bites? With the weather getting warmer, you want to spend more time outside, but this means being bothered by a variety of insects that can bite and sting you. Bug bites are itchy and uncomfortable, so you want to repel the bugs as well as control the symptoms of bites as quickly as possible to ensure relief.
There are many bugs out during the summer months that can cause problems. The most common pests include mosquitoes, flies, midges, gnats and sandflies.
Essential oils (EO) are the true powerhouses when it comes to keeping the bugs away, and the ones that are most effective and therefore we use in our blends are –
Lemongrass – offers antifungal, insecticidal, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a great essential oil to have on hand as it has so many uses. It’s especially good for repelling fleas, flies, and mosquitoes.
